The Friends of Boston Manor have been involved with Boston Manor Park since 2003. The instigators of many projects we show below a number of photographs taken over the years (even though the quality is not great it represents our commitment). Gardening projects have included working with the parks gardeners removing the flowerbeds and replanting involving people of all ages. One of our projects included researching the history of the apples grown in the area in the 1800’s and planting a small orchard to represent our findings. The Friends organise gatherings including an annual primary school end of year party and are very involved in organising the Brentford Festival. In March 2016 an impromptu gathering took place in the meadow celebrating the Iranian New Year. In memory of murdered Alice Gross 14 (her age) black poplars were planted including one by Alice’s parents.
Each year we engage with the Challenge (National Citizens Service). The Friends also work with Headstart (who are posing on the adult climbing frame funded by the Friends of Boston Manor) who volunteer 16 hours each per year. We also offer spaces to Duke of Edinburgh participants assisting them in reaching their goal. Local people volunteer to work in the cafe and in 2018 we hope to start a gardening club.
Community Payback work with the Friends each week and make a major difference to the clean-up of the park and help make other visual improvements.
